The soil is nourished using natural, on-farm inputs prepared from cow dung, cow urine, plant extracts, and fermented solutions that enhance microbial activity and soil life. Pest and disease management is handled through simple, traditional methods such as botanical extracts, natural repellents, and preventive farm practices, instead of synthetic chemicals

Ramkrishnan runs the Bangalore Berry Company, an initiative started by a group of friends who transitioned from the IT sector into farming with a clear focus on growing high-quality strawberries using natural methods. Their primary farm is spread across 7 acres in Malus, where they cultivate four varieties of strawberries. Cultivation is centred around building soil health through enriched organic manures, carbon-based inputs, and a diverse range of composts that support strong root development and microbial activity. Pest management is handled through preventive and non-chemical practices such as physical pheromone traps, marigold used as a trap crop to break pest cycles, and specific measures to control nematode pressure. Botanical inputs like chilli oil are used as natural repellents, while beneficial microorganisms such as Pseudomonas and Trichoderma are applied to manage fungal diseases. By combining these practices, the farm follows sound natural farming principles that prioritise soil vitality, plant resilience, and ecological balance resulting in strawberries that are clean, flavour-rich, and of consistently high quality.
